Enchantments are just like superpowers added to weapons, armor, books, and other items.  Adding enchantments to your items makes the game more easier and fun.

However, there are a lot of enchantments in Minecraft which can be a little bit confusing sometimes, especially when you are a newbie to the game.

But fear not, because today I’m going to be walking you through all Minecraft enchantments and what they do.


What Minecraft Items Can You Enchant?

There are a lot of items you can enchant in Minecraft, but the essentials once are, armor, weapons, books, and a lot of other items.



There are two ways of adding enchantments to items in Minecraft

  1. Craft an Enchanting table and exchange XP and lapis lazuli to enchant items.
  2. Craft an anvil and combine enchanted books with items to make an enchantment.

  • Aqua Affinity
    Increases your mining rate while underwater.
  • Bane of Arthropods
    Increases damage to arthropods, exclusive with Smite and Sharpness.
  • Blast Protection
    Reduce damage from explosions.
  • Channeling
    Applies to the Minecraft trident only. Channels a bolt of lightning towards a hit target, only works during thunderstorms
  • Curse of Binding
    Prevents removal of items.
  • Curse of Vanishing
    Item destroyed on death.
  • Depth Strider
    Move faster underwater
  • Efficiency
    Mine faster.
  • Feather Falling
    Take less fall damage.
  • Fire Aspect
    Sets the target on fire.
  • Fire Protection
    Take less fire damage.
  • Flame
    Arrows set the target on fire.
  • Fortune
    Get more block drops
  • Frost Walker
    Turns any water beneath you into frosted ice
  • Infinity
    Consume no arrows when firing your bow
  • Knockback
    More knockback.
  • Looting
    Get more loot from mobs.
  • Loyalty
    Trident returns after you throw it
  • Luck of the Sea
    More luck with catching fish.
  • Lure
    Faster fishing.
  • Mending
    Repair items using experience
  • Multishot
    Fire three arrows at once, while only consuming one arrow
  • Piercing
    Arrows can go through two targets
  • Power
    Deal more damage with arrows.
  • Projectile Protection
    Take less damage from projectiles.
  • Protection
    Reduces damage taken from most sources.
  • Punch
    Your arrows have more knockback.
  • Quick Charge
    Reload your crossbow faster.
  • Respiration
    Swim underwater for longer without needing to resurface.
  • Riptide
    When you throw your trident you go with it
  • Sharpness
    Deal more damage with swords and axes
  • Silk Touch
    Mined blocks drop automatically
  • Smite
    Dish out more damage to undead mobs
  • Sweeping Edge
    More damage with sweeping attacks.
  • Thorns
    Deals damage to attackers upon being hit.
  • Unbreaking
    Increases the durability of the enchanted item.
